EXCLUSIVE: Jeffrey Epstein's Brother Breaks Silence Over Alleged Suicide Note
The brother of the late Jeffrey Epstein has provided me with his thoughts regarding the recent release of what officials claim to be a suicide note written by Jeffrey himself.
The existence of such a note was brought to light two years ago by Jessica Reed Kraus, who first broke the story that Epstein’s former cellmate, Nick Tartaglione, claimed to have found the handwritten document tucked away in one of Epstein’s books.
You can read Jessica’s eye-opening coverage of Tartaglione’s story by clicking here.
Nick, a former cop who was convicted of murder (he staunchly maintains that he is innocent), was assigned to Jeffrey’s cell at the Manhattan Correctional Centre in 2019.
During their time locked up together, Nick claims he awoke one night to find Jeffrey trying to hang himself from their shared bunkbed. He claims he cut him down and called for the guards.
Reports written by prison staff document that, at least on this occasion, guards who subsequently burst into the cell discovered Jeffrey in an oxygen-starved slumber on the floor, snoring loudly.
Those same documents, however, reveal that, upon finally regaining his senses, Jeffrey opened his eyes and told the prison psychologist sat at his bedside, “Nick tried to kill me!”
He later retracted the allegation. Either way, Nick was swiftly moved to a different jail cell, leaving Jeffrey alone.
It was during this period of forced solitude that, just 18 days after being found mysteriously snoring on the cold floor, Jeffrey was found dead.
His demise has since spawned countless headlines and ongoing worldwide speculation. Did Jeffrey Epstein really kill himself… or was he murdered?
Nick believes it was indeed suicide. Jeffrey Epstein’s brother, Mark Epstein, adamantly believes that the evidence fully supports the notion that it was a homicide.
The alleged suicide note, released by a judge earlier this week, is undated and the Department of Justice today confirmed that it has not been authenticated.
“They investigated me for month — FOUND NOTHING!!!” it begins.
“It is a treat to be able to choose one’s time to say goodbye,” it continues.
“Watcha want me to do — Bust out cryin!!”
“NO FUN,” it concludes, with those words underlined. “NOT WORTH IT!!”
Upon first glance of the surprisingly under-scrutinised scribble, I recalled another note that the media seems to have completely forgotten about - another moaning scrawl found in Epstein’s cell and filed away until I unearthed it during the research for the final chapters of my book, NAKED LIES.
You can grab yourself an eBook version of the book for just 99 cents (for the next 7 days only, before we return the cost to its original figure) by clicking here. It contains all of my exclusive interviews with key witnesses and finally exposes the truth behind the Epstein scandal.
If you are a paid subscriber, please drop me a message on here or on X and I’ll send you a free copy of the eBook.
The note that I found a few years ago can be read below (it is important to mention that, as with the recently-released alleged suicide note, the author writes and underlines the words ‘NO FUN’.
Again, I stress that the latest note still hasn’t been authenticated. I currently have a handwriting expert analysing it, and I’ll give you all an update on his findings asap.
In the meantime, tonight I briefly spoke again to Mark Epstein, just moments before I appeared as a guest on The Matt Gaetz Show to discuss the note itself.
I asked Mark for his thoughts on the scribble. Until now, he has not made any public comment about it.
“It’s all bullshit,” Mark insisted in his reply (which he gave me permission to publish). “The July incident [when Tartaglione claims Epstein first tried to kill himself) was not a suicide attempt. My brother originally reported that his cellmate attacked him. He later recanted and said he couldn’t remember, because he was afraid of retaliation. This is documented. That is why he was taken off of suicide watch so soon. Hence there would not be a suicide note.”
“The Department of Justice is fearful that, with all the new info out there, the suicide story is falling apart,” he continued. “The report [Mark commissioned an independent panel of experts to go over his brother’s death] that is now being peer reviewed will conclusively show that he could not have died from a suicidal hanging. The report will be released after the peer review process is over.”
Mark told me that the report - which is sure to be explosive - is likely to be published by the end of this month.
“When the report knocks the suicide theory off the table, the only other option is homicide since he did not die from natural causes or some sort of accident,” he continued. “There are no other options on how one dies! After the report comes out, anyone who still wants to believe it was a suicide should be declared braindead.”
While acknowledging the fact that the presence of a suicide written many days prior to an actual death does not automatically prove a suicide itself (Jeffrey, even if he did write the note, could have changed his mind in the time proceeding him putting pen to paper - and the evidence certainly reveals that he was feeling optimistic about his case shortly before his death), I asked Mark if he at least recognised the handwriting as belonging to his late brother.
“Didn’t bother comparing,” he replied. “Wouldn’t be difficult for a pro to forge one, but there was no suicide attempt so NO suicide note required!!!!”
Mark’s suspicions aren’t without reason. Another widely-reported document, alleged to have been written by Jeffrey to convicted sex offender Larry Nassar, appeared to show Jeffrey revealing that he planned to take his own life. The media went wild when it was found in the Epstein Files. A heavy hale of sensational headlines poured down upon us all for days. This soon dried up, however, upon it being revealed that the letter was a complete hoax and that Jeffrey did not write it. Similarly, journalists - all too eager to continue churning out clickbait, didn’t bother to write the tame truth in any of their follow-ups.
“Even if he did write it, which he didn’t, the report showed that the other injuries on his body, ignored by Dr Sampson, proves he did not commit suicide,” Mark added, concluding:
“The next questions for investigation are: who killed him and for who?”
You can listen to Mark Epstein talk to me extensively about his brother’s death below. In the meantime, stay tuned…

Mark Epstein is just going off on the wrong road. I'll read the report when it comes out but every piece of evidence he's revealed to us so far looks like he's hanging onto confirmation bias, starting with the Michael Baden nonsense (a "celeb pathologist" whose only apparent role in recent years has been to cast doubt on the official cause of every high-profile death).
The July 23 incident could have been a suicide attempt initially claimed as an attack by Epstein in order to isolate himself from his cellmate. And Nick Tartaglione told JRK that he told Epstein he wasn't going to allow Epstein to kill himself. Also if Nick was really serious about fighting his murder charges it makes little sense to attack another inmate, whatever his reputation.
Hey Jay,
I just read your latest piece, the exclusive with Mark Epstein. Man, you really let him lay it all out there, and I appreciate you giving his side a platform. At the same time, after everything that’s come out, the full autopsy details, the DOJ Inspector General report, the FBI review. I believe that Epstein did kill himself. And I know how difficult it is for any loved one to accept these facts…
😥I will know. My dad killed himself in 2009, and for a long time I wanted to believe he was murdered because the truth was just too hard to reconcile with. It felt easier to think someone else took him from us than to sit with the pain of him choosing to end his own life.
I have nothing but empathy for Mark. Losing a brother in those circumstances, especially with all the jail screw-ups, has to be devastating. The negligence at the MCC was real and indefensible, guards asleep, falsified logs, no cellmate, broken cameras, bedding left in the cell. Those failures created the perfect storm for a desperate man to take his own life. But the forensic evidence (the ligature furrow matching the orange cloth, the petechiae pattern, the specific fractures consistent with hanging in a 66-year-old, and zero defensive wounds) still points to suicide, not murder.
You handled this with real integrity, Jay, giving Mark the mic while still laying out the documented facts.
I'm proud of the work you’re doing. Keep chasing the truth.
