Three months after an Epstein-linked French modelling scout was found dead, prosecutors have closed the case: his heart gave out. The internet had long since decided he was murdered, and it is not about to change its mind. The real casualty of the ‘Epstein curse’ is the truth.
This week, French prosecutors quietly closed an investigation into the death of a man most people outside Paris had never heard of. The announcement will not have troubled the man in a darkened bedroom somewhere who keeps a spreadsheet titled, I imagine, “THE EPSTEIN CURSE”, in capital letters and possibly red ink, listing everyone connected with the late financier who has had the temerity to die. He added this name back in July. He will not, I am fairly sure, be taking it off.
The name is Daniel Siad, a French modelling scout who was found dead at his home in Colombes, a suburb north-west of Paris, in July. He was 69.
